He has become a billionaire by copyrighting the software and his first success came by developing the MS-DOS operating system for the IBM. He licensed the operating system to them for fifty thousand dollars retaining the copyright.

Then he never looked back. In 1987 he becomes the youngest billionaire in the world and in 1995 the richest person in the world.

It’s a good idea to take some lessons from the working life of Bill Gates. He always advises entrepreneurs to take a calculated risk rather than an uncertain one. For the learners, his most precious advice is to read more and more.

I have found an article where Lara. J listed 9 powerful lessons from the working life of Bill Gates that are really helpful for the freelancers and for the entrepreneurs. You can read the article here.

tax-deductions-1

Freelancers have a big advantage over employees in that they can manage the risk of running out of money in retirement by retiring part-time.

However, this does not mean that they should not be making provision for their retirement or can take unnecessary investment risks. There is an important article that appears on the Australian Securities and Investment Commission’s Money Smart Website.

The article is entitled Learn to invest with your head, not your heart. You can read the article by clicking here.

We are constantly searching for news articles and videos on skills development and inspiration for freelancers.

Each week we have decided to bring you the links to what we consider are the top three articles or videos. Here they are for this week:

  • In Australia and around the world there is a great deal of attention on climate change and the impact that it is having around the world. There is a lot of public debate about its cause, but what is clear is that it can have severe impact on rural and regional communities.

One of the ways that these drought impacted communities can be helped is by producing off farm income. It not only helps farmers it also helps the rural towns that depend on them. We have produced an article on this issue entitled 10 reasons to start freelancing in regional rural areas which you can read here.
  • Freelancing is a global trend that is growing quickly. The market does not recognize country borders and is across cultures and wage structures of different countries.

Freelancers have to learn the skills necessary to cope with this and we have produced an article on the issue entitled How freelancers can cope with international competition and it can be read here.
  • Technology is continually changing. It is important to keep up with new products and services. One of these products in the Tailwind App for the social media platform Pinterest.

There are now Tailwind App virtual assistants providing services to businesses throughout the world. We have an article entitled 15 Reasons to use Tailwind App for Pinterest and Instagram which can be read here.

There are now 5,000 skills in 90 categories that the digital economy can offer, according to Upwork’s 1st. Quarter 2019 Skills Index which you can read here.

Number two on the list is Google Cloud Platform. If you are like me, you will probably want to know more about Google Cloud Platform. I looked it up on Wikipedia of course and this is a very brief overview here.

Amazon Associates Website Case Study

website case study

As discussed in previous newsletters we are focussing on the niche website in the future because it is producing better results i.e. sales.

There has been an interesting development in our Amazon niche website. We have found Google penalizes websites reviewing products based on features and benefits without actual product experience.

We have therefore changed our strategy to include guest posts and this is the first by Eli Owen: Eco-Friendly Interior Decor Ideas To Make Your Home Beautiful. We will let you know when another is posted. The goal is to increase traffic and diversify product promotion.

There have been 38 Amazon product sales (across all our websites) in the past month due to the keyword research and skills of Mamun, my virtual assistant.

Freelancers And Cyber Security

We have decided to expand our search for appropriate articles for freelancers about cybersecurity and online scams.

The latest Australian Government’s eSafety Commissioner’s article Empowering women to take control online which can be read here.

Robert Siciliano is an identity theft expert and consultant. He also runs a cyber security and fraud prevention website which you can see here.
